Supercharge your brekky with this salted caramel delight
One of the best things about porridge is that it invites endless variation and experimentation. My mum told me not to play with my food, but I resolutely believe she was wrong (sorry mum!)
The creation of food is a joyful act, and a playful relationship with food helps develop healthy eating habits. Every morning I make changes to my porridge recipe, reflecting the seasons, my internal state, my energy, and what is happening in the world outside.
This recipe has a vegan play on salted caramel, with the maca and mesquite taking on the traditional caramel role. Combine that with the richness of peanut butter and punchy cacao powder, and this bowl becomes a powerful way to start the day.
Every act of creation is a love letter to the world. Why not start your day with something beautiful?
- 1 cup Birchia Paleo Prebiotic
- 3 cups liquid (milk, water, or a combo of both)
- 1-2 tbsp Cacao Powder
- 2 tbsp Cacao Nibs
- 2-3 tbsp Peanut Butter
- 1/4 cup Coconut Yoghurt
- 1 tsp Maca Powder
- 1 tsp Mesquite Powder
- Pinch of Salt
Add the Birchia, Cacao Powder and milk/water to a pot. Slowly heat on a low setting, stirring regularly. When at the desired consistency, throw in the Cacao Nibs and stir through.
On a side note… add maca, mesquite and salt to the yoghurt and mix lovingly.
Bowl-up! Spoon, drizzle and dollop choccy Birchia, peanut butter and salted caramel yoghurt into your favourite bowl, on top. Sprinkle a few extra cacao nibs on your creation, add other garnishes as desired. Eat while hot! Enjoy!
